چکیده

Slope failures, subsidence, earthworks, consolidation of waste dumps, and erosion are typical active deformation processes that pose a significant hazard in current abandoned mining areas, given their considerable potential to produce damage affect the population at large. This work proves exploiting space-borne InSAR airborne LiDAR techniques, combined with data inferred through simple slope stability geotechnical model, obtain update inventory maps deformations areas. The proposed approach is illustrated by analyzing region Sierra de Cartagena-La Union (Murcia), mountainous area southeast Spain. Firstly, we processed Sentinel-1 imagery acquired both ascending descending orbits covering period from October 2016 November 2021. obtained velocities were then separately post-processed semi-automatically generate two areas (ADA) using ADATool. Subsequently, PS-InSAR LOS displacements tracks decomposed into vertical east-west components. Complementarily, open-access, non-customized point clouds used analyze surface changes movements. Furthermore, safety factor (SF) map was over study adopting infinite model. Finally, InSAR-derived maps, LiDAR-derived map, SF integrated previously published landslides’ perform preliminary classification different support optical images geological map. level activity index defined state reliability detected ADA. A total 28, 19, 5, 12 ADAs identified ascending, descending, horizontal, datasets, respectively, 58 change detection subsequent ADA enabled identification eight 11 zones which earthworks performed, three affected processes, 17 landslides, subsidence zone, seven compound 23 possible false positive ADAs. results highlight effectiveness these remote sensing techniques (i.e., LiDAR) conjunction models orthophotos information zones.

Combining Lidar, Insar, Sar and Sar-simulation for Change Detection Applications in Cloud-prone Urban Areas

Cloud-prone urban environments are very difficult areas for remote sensing using traditional sensors operating with short wavelength signals in the visible or infrared domains. Due to their all-weather capability, SAR systems are a suitable alternative for time-critical change-detection applications in these areas. However, the inherent side-looking sensor principle of SAR is disadvantageous fo...

Integrating and Updating Domain Knowledge with Data Mining

Most current tools for data mining lack support for intelligent analysis and filtering of mined patterns. Dividing interesting mining results from uninteresting ones still is a laborious task mainly performed by human users. We propose to employ formalized domain knowledge for assessing the interestingness of mining results. We present considerations and ideas as foundations of the design of an...

Ground Deformation Mapping Using Insar

SAR interferometric data can be used for extracting three dimensional information of the earth’s surface by using the phase part of the radar signal. In this study, available SAR interferometric data acquired before and after the Marmara earthquake of 1999 and provided by ESA were used for mapping the ground deformation in the satellite line of sight (LOS) in the Izmit province. The interferome...

Standardized emissions inventory methodology for open-pit mining areas.

INTRODUCTION There is still interest in a unified methodology to quantify the mass of particulate material emitted into the atmosphere by activities inherent to open-pit mining. For the case of total suspended particles (TSP), the current practice is to estimate such emissions by developing inventories based on the emission factors recommended by the USEPA for this purpose. However, there are d...

ERS-ENVISAT InSAR deformation time-series: a powerful tool to investigate long term surface deformation of large areas

Satellite time series have already provided key measurements to retrieve information on the dynamic nature of Earth surface processes. We exploit in this work the availability of the large archives of spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data acquired by the ERS-1/2 and ENVISAT sensors of the European Space Agency (ESA) during the 1992-2009 time period, in order to investigate long term su...
